Play Florida Golf
With more courses than any other destination in the world, it’s no wonder more golfers choose Florida for their golf vacation. From Pensacola
to Key West and from Jacksonville to Naples, Florida has more than 900 courses to test the skill level of every player. And, Florida’s climate makes it pleasurable to enjoy the sport 365 days per year.
Long Point Course
Completed in 1987, Fazio's award winning design challenges golfers with natural hazards, tight fairways and elevated greens. The rolling fairways wind through three spectacular and distinctive settings: the magnificent marshes, the thick oak and pine forest and the scenic oceanfront dunes.
Oak Marsh Course
is one of the truly classic Pete Dye designed golf courses in the world. The course, built in 1972 shortly after the completion of the Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks that Amelia Island is famous for.
There's something about
Bay Hill that makes a golfer's heart beat faster. Open only to Club members and guests staying at the
Bay Hill Club & Lodge,
the breathaking course sweeps across 270 acres along the shores of the
Butler Chain of Lakes.
The phenomenal Mystic Dunes Golf Club opened its greens summer of 2001 and designed by Champions Tour professional and NBC golf analyst, Gary Koch. Challenging yet fun, this course consists of two distinctly different layouts that take advantage of the unique topography, offering the golfer a fantastic and memorable experience.
Ocean Links Course
Winding along a coastal Atlantic dune ridge, the fairways and greens are parallel to the beaches of Amelia Island and meander through a unique coastal maritime hammock. Named by Golf for Women as one of the "50 Best Courses for Women", this close proximity to the ocean and the ever changing sea breeze provide the golfer with exhilarating views and intriguing play.
Opened as Royal Amelia
in 2000, Amelia River Golf Club was purchased by the Amelia Island Company in 2005, joining Oak Marsh, Ocean Links, and Long Point in the company’s stable of championship golf courses. The new name reflects better the beauty of the course, as well as its location adjacent to the Amelia River on Amelia Island.
Originally designed by Tom Fazio for major tournament play, the Champion Course was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1990. Although the Champion Course has generous landing areas and spacious and accepting greens, golfers are presented with course management challenges throughout their rounds.
Designed by Tom Fazio,
the Haig Course was the first to open for play at PGA National Resort & Spa. Fazio's goal in designing the Haig was to create an outstanding quality course that would be playable for all types of golfers. The major design factor relates to the location of water hazards.
Designed by Tom Fazio,
the Squire is the shortest and the most exacting of the courses at PGA National Resort & Spa. Tom Fazio referred to the Squire as "the thinking man's course".
The golfer is required to test his or her accuracy with fairway woods and long irons from many tees – and the smaller greens demand precise iron shots.
Designed by Arnold Palmer, the Palmer Course is the most forgiving for the "grip it and rip it" style of play. The open fairways and larger greens are quite accommodating, and the golfer is not overly penalized for missing the fairway or primary rough. There is a considerable amount of fairway mounding throughout the course, so the golfer is often challenged with uneven lies.
Designed by Karl Litten, the Estate Course has an enjoyable mix of challenging and docile holes. The second-shortest course at PGA National Resort & Spa will test golfers with its formidable placement of fairway bunkers and water hazards. Generous fairways will often make stray tee shots more manageable – and the large, inviting greens help keep the course fun for the high handicapper.
The 27-hole North/South/East Course provides the ultimate test of accuracy. The sportier, more wooded East Nine is more generous, with less bunkering (particularly in front of the greens) allowing for more run-up shots.
Set in the midst of an open meadow, the New Course is Jack Nicklaus' tribute and homage to the famed Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. This Scottish links masterpiece is complete with double greens, stone bridges and walls, gorse mounds, burns, and pot bunkers as deep as 12 feet... all in the spirit of true Scottish original.
The 27-hole North/South/East Course provides the ultimate test of accuracy. The original North-South combination, marked by sharply ledged fairways, tall shaggy mounds, and plateau greens perched above water or sand, is a demanding, target-style test.
In the summer of 2007, the South Course was renovated and redesigned. Jack Nicklaus came back to Grand Cypress to change play on several of the holes. The end result is a longer course featuring course conditions that are even more grand than before. The course reopened for play on October 18th, 2007.
