"This piece of land has some very interesting natural movement to it," said Crenshaw of the new We-Ko-Pa course. "I think this golf course will be pretty unique for the desert. People will be induced to play different shots and find solutions to new challenges when playing this course."

Saguaro has already been featured in numerous golf publications including Golfweek, which currently ranks it as the:

#1 public access course in Arizona

In addition, GOLF magazine named it one of the:

"Top 10 Best New Courses You Can Play"
in the United States 2007.

Saguaro, which opened December 16, 2006, is a desert golf experience unlike any other.

Integrating design elements not commonly found in the desert, the course is built for walking and has more in common with older, more traditional courses where greens are close to tees and the course follows the natural movement of the land.  To assist those choosing to walk, battery powered Speedcarts are available to transport your clubs.

Coore and Crenshaw are the design team behind such highly touted courses as Bandon Trails in Bandon, Oregon, Sand Hills in Mullen, Nebraska, Friar's Head in Baiting Hollow, New York and the Golf Club at Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Georgia.

Located in Fountain Hills, on the east edge of Scottsdale, We-Ko-Pa (the Yavapai pronunciation for "Four Peaks Mountain") presents a unique alternative to the already upscale Scottsdale golf market.

With some of the most dramatic and jaw-dropping views of the surrounding mountain ranges including the Four Peaks, McDowell Mountains, Red Mountains and the Superstitions, We-Ko-Pa is already renowned for its natural beauty and unprecedented serenity. The desert terrain is contrasted by the Verde River, which flows north to south through the reservation. Thirty miles east of Fort McDowell, the Four Peaks rise from the desert floor to an elevation of more than 7,000 feet.

Unlike many course that you find in Arizona, no homes, roads or commercial development will ever mar the perfect setting. In short, it’s a hidden beauty. The views are amazing, the golf course is playable and it’s in great condition.

The Cholla Course at We-Ko-Pa has garnered countless honors and has quickly become recognized as the reference course for quintessential desert golf.

Located adjacent to Scottsdale and Fountain Hills on land owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, We-Ko-Pa (Yavapai for “ Four Peaks”) is routed through unspoiled Sonoran desert, free from residential or commercial real estate development.  In fact, there is not even an out-of-bounds stake to be found on this pristine course where endless mountain vistas provide the backdrop.

The facility is complimented by a 21,000 square foot clubhouse that features a golf shop named three consecutive years as one of “Golf’s 100 Best” by Golfworld Business magazine as well as a full service restaurant serving breakfast or lunch indoors or on the spacious patio.
