North Course #4

recognized as one of the nation's premier municipal golf facilities

Torrey Pines. The name itself stirs the imagination of golf enthusiasts all over the world. Situated atop cliffs towering above the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, California, golfers marvel at the views of the coastline and deep ravines. Nature lovers can spot wildlife and the famous Torrey Pines trees that are indigenous to the area.

Torrey Pines, long recognized as one of the nation's foremost municipal golf facilities, is truly a "golfer's paradise".  Bounded by mountains to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west, the seaside courses are often swept by sunshine or by rain, fog and chilling winds.

Torrey Pines North Course is one of the most scenic golf courses on the California coastline.  Several holes on the North Course are situated high atop the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Although both golf courses provide some of the most dramatic ocean views from several holes, Torrey Pines North is still considered the host for the Torrey Pines Golf Course signature hole - the Par 3 # 6 Hole.

With a name that stirs the imagination of golf enthusiasts all over the world, and the many holes on both the North and South courses that provide dramatic ocean views Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course is often referred to as “Pebble Beach South” and is truly a “golfer’s paradise.”

Both golf courses feature holes bordering the ocean and the view on many holes is awesome!  There are also deep canyons with thick vegetation and wildlife. The Torrey Pines North course is shorter than Torrey Pines South course, but some say the North is more scenic. The South course is a tough test of golf and requires good length off the tee.  Both courses are rather open with strategically placed bunkers. When playing these courses one should keep in mind two general rules: 1. It is better, usually, to be short of the green than over the green  2. The general lie of the land is towards the ocean, so most putts break in that direction.
